Community leader, Priest Timipre Ndoni, the Kariowei of Osuopele Beniseide, Ojobo Federated Communities, Operemor Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, has commended Great Joshua McCaiver for his sustained humanitarian interventions and support for vulnerable members of society, describing his actions as a reflection of compassion, people-oriented leadership and commitment to community development.
In a statement made available to 𝘐𝘻𝘰𝘯 𝘋𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘺, Ndoni said McCaiver had continued to live up to the recognition accorded to him as “Tompolo’s GOC First Son in Bayelsa State” and the meaning of the name Izon-Tukpa — the Light of the Ijaw Nation.
He, however, noted that beyond titles and public descriptions, the most important consideration was the practical impact of an individual’s actions on the lives of the people.
According to him, McCaiver’s consistent support for aged mothers, pregnant women, youths, aged men and other members of the communities demonstrated a commitment to improving the welfare of the people.
“Whenever an individual uses his resources to support people and put food on their tables, he is contributing to the welfare of the community and, by extension, the development of the state and the nation,” Ndoni stated.
The community leader stressed that acts of humanitarian service should be recognised and encouraged regardless of political affiliation or future ambitions, adding that society benefits when individuals who contribute positively to the lives of others are supported.
He acknowledged that McCaiver has political aspirations in Bayelsa State, but said the people would have the opportunity to assess his vision and intentions at the appropriate time.
Ndoni said any future evaluation of McCaiver’s political journey should be based on his character, record of service, understanding of the challenges facing the people and the sincerity of his commitment.
“Politics should not only be about promises made during campaigns. The people should also remember those who showed up for them before they needed their votes,” he added.
He further urged leaders and aspiring leaders to prioritise genuine service to the people, noting that leadership should be measured by actions and positive impact rather than words alone.
