It is with a heart full of gratitude that I share a deeply humbling milestone in my academic journey.
On 7 September 2026, my academic journey took me from Nigeria to the historic University of Bonn, Germany, where I participated in a week-long international academic conference themed:
“𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗘𝗽𝗼𝗰𝗵𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀.”
My research paper, titled “Contending Political Interests and Victor Banjo-Led Officer Disobedience in Biafran Young Army,” was presented on Friday, 11 September 2026, before an international gathering of distinguished professors and scholars from different parts of the world.
Standing before that global academic audience was more than a research presentation; it was a reflection of a journey filled with dreams, struggles, sacrifices and perseverance. It represented a transition from humble beginnings to a platform I once only imagined from afar.
As a young scholar from Amapere in Arogbo-Ijaw Kingdom, carrying the history, memories and intellectual heritage of my people, I felt deeply honoured to have the opportunity to share my research before scholars from across the globe. At that moment, I remembered the silent battles, disappointments, uncertainties and moments when the journey seemed difficult. Yet, God has a way of transforming challenging chapters into beautiful testimonies.
Above all, I give thanks to the Almighty God, whose grace turned my anxiety into confidence, my preparation into expression and my efforts into something far greater than I could have imagined.
I am profoundly grateful to my Ph.D. Supervisor, Prof. Olusegun James Adeyeri, whom God used as an instrument to connect me with the organisers of the University of Bonn seminar. His support, encouragement and academic guidance opened a door that has now become one of the most memorable chapters of my academic journey.
From the classrooms of Lagos to the scholarly halls of Bonn, this experience has taught me that humble beginnings do not determine the height of one’s destiny when purpose, dedication and faith are involved.
The seminar has ended, and I have safely returned to Nigeria with memories, renewed confidence, deeper scholarship and, above all, a heart overflowing with gratitude to the Almighty God.
This is more than a story of an academic presentation; it is a testimony of perseverance, growth and divine favour.
From Nigeria to Bonn, from aspiration to achievement, and from prayer to testimony—the story is still being written by God.
