INC Western Zone Chairman Congratulates Gbaramatu Monarch on NDU Advisory Council Appointment

The Chairman of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Western Zone, comprising Delta, Edo and Ondo States, Priye Noel Kuete, Esq., has congratulated the Pere of Ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, King Oboro Gbaraun II, JP, Aketekpe, on his inauguration as Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Institute for Niger Delta Studies at Niger Delta University (NDU), Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State.

Kuete described the appointment as a well-deserved honour that reflects the monarch’s exceptional leadership qualities, wisdom and unwavering commitment to the advancement of the Ijaw people and the wider Niger Delta region.

The Gbaramatu monarch was officially inaugurated into the position on Saturday, September 5, 2026.

In a congratulatory message, the INC Western Zone Chairman said the new responsibility represents another milestone in King Oboro Gbaraun II’s distinguished record of service, noting that his wealth of experience and traditional leadership would bring valuable contributions to the institute.

Kuete praised the monarch’s role in promoting unity, peace and development, expressing confidence that his leadership at the Advisory Council would strengthen the Institute for Niger Delta Studies and enhance its contribution to research and regional transformation.

He stated that the appointment was a testament to the respect and confidence the monarch commands among stakeholders in the Niger Delta.

“Your Majesty’s appointment is a fitting recognition of your exemplary leadership, dedication and commitment to the progress of our people. We are confident that your wisdom and experience will bring greater value to the Institute for Niger Delta Studies,” Kuete said.

The INC Western Zone Chairman further wished King Oboro Gbaraun II a successful tenure, praying that his new assignment would bring more achievements and positive impact to the Niger Delta.
