High Chief Kestin Ebimorbowei Pondi has formally petitioned Meta, the parent company of Facebook, to take down a page allegedly impersonating him and falsely portraying him as a 2031 governorship aspirant for Delta State.
In a letter addressed to Facebook/Meta Support, Pondi identified the page in question as "Chief KestinPondi Fan Page," stating that it is being operated without his knowledge, consent, or authorization. He clarified that his only legitimate presence on the platform is his verified page, "Kestin Pondi."
According to the petition, the unauthorized page has been publishing political content using his name and photograph, including a campaign-style statement declaring: "HIGH CHIEF KESTIN PONDI FOR GOVERNOR – DELTA STATE – 2031 – THE PEOPLE'S CHOICE."
Pondi stated firmly that he has neither launched nor endorsed any governorship ambition or campaign, describing the content as misleading and capable of creating a false impression among members of the public that the initiative carries his backing.
He expressed particular concern that his identity and image were being used to shape public opinion and political perception without his authorization, warning that the situation could result in reputational harm and public confusion if left unaddressed.
In the petition, Pondi requested that Meta investigate the page, take it down for impersonation, remove the unauthorized political content, and identify the individuals responsible for operating it. He also asked that his verified "Kestin Pondi" page be formally recognized as his sole legitimate presence on the platform, and called for measures to prevent further misuse of his name and image going forward.
He indicated his readiness to provide identification documents and proof of ownership of his verified page to support Meta's investigation, and urged the company to treat the matter with urgency given the potential for continued public misrepresentation.
