Grammy-winning music superstar Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has been confirmed to headline the opening night of Detty December Fest 2026, organisers have announced.
According to Livespot360, Wizkid will take the stage on December 18, marking the start of the 13-day festival of music, culture, food, fashion and entertainment in Lagos, which runs through December 30.
The organisers said this year's edition will introduce a second performance stage as part of an expanded programme for the annual festival. "Wizkid will headline the main Festival Stage, while the newly introduced Pulse Stage will provide a platform for emerging artists, new sounds and breakthrough talents shaping the future of African music," they stated.
This year's edition follows the official launch of Detty December Fest in 2025, which drew more than 40,000 festivalgoers and featured a lineup including Busta Rhymes, Gunna, Shenseea, Tiwa Savage, Diamond Platnumz, Phyno, Wande Coal, Fave, Young John, Qing Madi, Ice Prince, Jux and Wizkid.
Organisers say the 2026 edition will offer an even wider mix of music, culture and entertainment experiences. Detty December is regarded as Nigeria's premier cultural fiesta and holiday season showcase, transforming Lagos into the global capital of Afrobeats, nightlife and street celebration throughout December.
